Singel ini mula-mulanya dirilis pada tanggal 25 Mei 2008 di iTunes sebelum album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends yang dirilis pada Juni 2008. 

Lagu ini kemudian dipakai sebagai iklan untuk produk iPod dan iTunes dari Apple ketika Coldplay pertama kali menyanyikan lagu ini pada MTV Movie Awards 2008.
